For the past few weeks, we’ve been covering the situation of Chelsea loanee Nathan, whose contract with Atlético Mineiro expires at the end of December, at the end of the Brazilian season.
Given his contract with the Blues expires next summer, it’s not known if the club would accept to extend the spell and let him become a free agent in June.
Now things got a little more complicated, because Nathan has picked up a thigh injury which will rule him out for the rest of the year.
Local Brazilian websites such as Super Esportes say he may have played his farewell match for Atlético last weekend, since he may not be back to the club for the 2020 season.
The outlet writes that Chelsea have no intention of adding him to Frank Lampard’s squad in January. However, they may want to recover the money spent to sign him back in 2015.
Nathan has given many interviews saying he would like to stay at the Brazilian club, but his future continues to be completely unclear, as it all depends on how Chelsea will react.
