Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda is living a really unexpected season at Real Bétis.
The midfielder had a great first season there, and that’s why his name was surrounded by many transfer rumours during the summer. Several clubs were linked to a loan, but Chelsea decided to keep him where he was.
But with only 275 minutes played since August, people are starting to ask what happened to him. And that’s what Estadio Deportivo has an article about today.
They say his season is very disappointing as he only had the chance to start one game for the club.
The player didn’t even come off the bench last night, in a Copa Del Rey tie against Deportivo La Coruña, when several young players who seldom have a chance were used.
Real Betis have recently changed the manager, so it can’t be a problem with the old coach Gus Poyet. Victor Sanchez, who took charge of the club, has recently dodged from the questions when asked about Musonda.
He said the player is “working well” and there will be “minutes for everyone”, but didn’t want to tell why a regular starter from last season is now only on the bench.
This is certainly not what Chelsea wanted, as the choice to leave him at Betis was made very carefully. Maybe a early return would be the solution in case they’re not happy with the treatment there.
