Liverpool are still in the chase to sign RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer, according to a report from Germany.
Towards the latter stages of the last transfer window, the Reds made an effort for the midfielder.
The summer failure has not put off Liverpool as they continue to be named as a suitor for the 25-year-old and they are now joined by Chelsea.
Sky Deutschland state the Blues and Jürgen Klopp’s side are behind Bayern Munich in the transfer race to secure the Austria international’s services. His deal at Leipzig expires in 2023 and he’s also wanted by the Bavarian club.
The player has decided not to renew his deal with the Bundesliga side and wants to leave them as a free agent next summer. He plans to reunite with his former coach, Julian Nagelsmann, at the Allianz Arena.
His desire is to join Bayern as a free agent and there is a verbal agreement between the two parties. Laimer is yet to complete the medical tests with Bayern, which is why both Chelsea and Liverpool ‘continue to hope’ to secure his signature.
The Premier League duo would also be pleased to know that the Austrian admitted a week ago he has not made a decision on his future and has not excluded any club so far.
