Sporx have revealed Chelsea are set to offer Fenerbahçe €15 million to sign their Danish central defender Simon Kjaer.

Kjaer is currently one of the options for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, and the Italian manager is said to believe the Fenerbahçe man could be an ideal signing for Chelsea. Conte has been linked with many defenders for Chelsea, and those links continue despite the purchase of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso.

The Fenerbahçe board are now facing a huge dilemma regarding Kjaer. The Turkish club have to sell some players before they can recruit in the new year due to FFP rules, and they could be thinking €15million will be too good an offer to turn down.

However, they’ll also be thinking Kjaer is one of the most important players they currently have at the club, so selling him in the January window would not be ideal.

The final decision regarding Simon Kjaer is likely to be with manager Dick Advocaat, and the Dutchman’s views are currently unknown.

Kjaer has been a huge player for Fenerbahçe after signing from Lille for €7.6 million back in 2015. The Denmark international recently said he’s happy in Istanbul, but we’ve covered that there seems to be a genuine interest for him from other major clubs in Europe, including Inter Milan.

The 27-year old Denmark captain has played 66 games for Fenerbahçe, scoring 5 goals.

It’s impossible to know if the Chelsea links to Kjaer are genuine or yet another player linked simply because Conte is fond of defenders.
