Chelsea have made a last minute attempt to sign Antonio Candreva, according to a claimed exclusive from Alfredo Pedulla.
It’s claimed the approach has been at the request of Antonio Conte who, if all reports are to be believed, and they probably shouldn’t be, is in something of a last minute whirlwind to improve his Chelsea squad before the January window closes.
Candreva is a 29 year old right footed winger who operates on the right, naturally, and wouldn’t really be a player one would think could immediately improve Chelsea’s first team.
Pedulla says Inter Milan have refused the request and are in no mood to deprive themselves of Candreva for the rest of the season. The player has a contract with Inter Milan until June 2020 so the club would be under no pressure to sell.
The claims don’t seem to be the most watertight, but this is the end of the window and anything could happen.
