With Timo Werner heading back to Leipzig and Romelu Lukaku now back at Inter, Chelsea really need someone else up front.

A surprise target for them has become Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who knows the Premier League well from his time at Arsenal.

There’s no denying the Gabon international brings goals, and that’s what Chelsea will be needing this season.

As for whether a deal can get done, that remains to be seen, but what appears increasingly certain is that talks are underway, as revealed by Gerard Romero.

The journalist took to Twitter to reveal that intermediary Eugenio Botas, who was key in getting Aubameyang to Barcelona in the first place, was spotted at the La Liga side’s offices.

Not only that, but Chelsea ‘keep pushing’ to sign the forward.

This suggests that Barcelona, who need to get rid of a few players to make room for new ones, could be willing to open the door to a deal, and Botas is there to try and get it done.
