Chelsea have their eyes set on Getafe’s Christantus Uche, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Earlier this year, the La Liga side took the 21-year-old from lower division Spanish side AD Ceuta and gave him a deal until 2028, with an option for another year.
Uche can operate as a defensive midfielder or in the middle of the pitch. Getafe manager José Bordalás has mainly used him as an attacking midfielder and a striker this season.
The versatile player has a goal from 10 games this season, and his performances have seen Chelsea take notice.
Mundo say the Nigeria international has been Geatfe’s ‘revelation’ and one of La Liga’s ‘sensations’ this season. It’s further claimed Chelsea have been showing interest in him.
After struggling in the last two seasons, the Blues have had a good start to this season. Enzo Maresca arrived at the west London club in the summer and the players are adapting to his style of play.
The Catalan newspaper claims Uche has to adapt if he were to end up at Stamford Bridge. They add the Premier League side have asked about him, without specifying whether the contact was made with Getafe, the player’s camp or both.
Uche could be a ‘perfect fit’ at Chelsea if they were to secure his services. There’s no mention if the Nigerian or Getafe are willing to do business, at least in January.
