As we get closer to the summer, we already start seeing reports about the talks between Chelsea and AS Roma for the permanent transfer of Romelu Lukaku.
The forward is loaned to the Giallorossi until the end of the season, and, for now, there’s nothing clear about his future at the club.
Metropolitan Magazine today writes that Chelsea are said to be ‘keen to cash in’ with Lukaku’s sale, as there are potential ‘maxi offers’ for him on the way.
That’s unlikely to come from Roma, though, as there are a few reasons why they’re unlikely to invest on the signing. First because of José Mourinho’s departure, and then due to financial reasons.
Lukaku has 14 goals and two assists in 25 appearances for the Giallorossi this season, and that should indeed help Chelsea to receive good bids for him in the summer.
Now the Blues should wait and see what will happen by then.
If it’s confirmed that Roma won’t move, then the Stamford Bridge side will certainly be hoping they don’t have to loan Lukaku out again, as he has at least managed to find some form in Italy.
