Earlier today, we covered claims from Sport that Philippe Coutinho had given his ‘OK’ to join Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but Spurs couldn’t find an agreement with Barcelona.
It was also explained there will be interest from the Premier League in the next market. The Brazilian is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and they have decided against making his transfer permanent.
Sport’s online edition now talks about Chelsea looking at the 27-year-old as the report’s headline reads, ‘Chelsea are interested in Coutinho’.
The Blues already approached Barca to know the conditions for a transfer and have also contacted the playmaker’s environment to find out Coutinho’s plan for future.
Frank Lampard’s side are looking to take the former Liverpool man on loan with an option to buy.
Chelsea’s idea is to pay a loan fee for Coutinho and also take care of his wages, which would take the overall cost of loan move around €30m.
The Spanish champions would prefer to sell him for €90m, but since no club is interested to meet their demands, a loan transfer with an option to buy seems like a best possible solution.
Inter have asked about Coutinho, although they will only take him on a favourable loan deal.
It remains to be seen if Barca will agree to Chelsea’s formula for Coutinho’s transfer, and if not, they will have to find him another club.
