Thomas Tuchel has Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri as three recognised left-backs available at his disposal at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will look look to bring in a new player in the same position after offloading Alonso and Emerson in the next market.
That’s according to La Razón and they add the Blues have identified Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza as a target.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Betis and they had an option to make his stay permanent. Having decided not to do that, the Spaniard returned to his parent club, where he has found his best form under Unai Emery.
Pedraza is the first choice left-back for the Yellow Submarine this season and his form has convinced the west London club to make an approach for him. It’s claimed the left-back is among the signings ‘Chelsea intend to close’ in the summer.
The player has a €35m release clause, but the Premier League side will look to negotiate so that they can get him for a ‘lower price’.
Chelsea’s idea is to use funds from Alonso and Emerson sales, and invest it in signing the Villarreal defender so that he and Chilwell can be the two left-backs for next season.
La Razón also explain Barcelona have Pedraza on their radar and they are hoping to get him for less than €20m.
