Following claims from Brazil on Monday that Chelsea have agreed to pay Real Madrid’s asking price for Danilo (put at €29m plus €3m in bonuses), Marca take it back a couple of steps on Tuesday.

Chelsea are still very much in the picture, with it being stated the Premier League champions are ‘most insistent’ to sign Danilo, over competition including Juventus.

The Spanish newspaper say Chelsea are chasing Danilo at the ‘express request’ of manager Antonio Conte, and Real Madrid will sell if the deal is right but aren’t overly keen to do so.

Marca push the price up a little, and say Real Madrid won’t accept less than €35m for the Brazilian fullback. Zinedine Zidane likes him, he’s popular in the squad, and even fans who were initially doubtful now respect the player.

With it being a World Cup year, Danilo may wish for more prominence at another club, and that would be the thought process behind any move to Chelsea or elsewhere.

This one isn’t going anywhere, but if Marca are to be believed, reports from Brazil are premature.
