Earlier today we covered a story from Marca which detailed the questions around Paul Pogba’s future and whether he’ll continue with Manchester United beyond the end of the current season.
The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of June, and that means he can negotiate a free move elsewhere, allowed to talk to other clubs from January onwards. Marca made sure to repeat that a move to Real Madrid has long been the midfielder’s dream, but they also made clear that a stay at Manchester United is looking more and more possible.
In a column from Jose Felix Diax, the chief editor of the Spanish newspaper, Pogba’s situation is looked at in comparison to that of Antonio Rudiger at Chelsea. Just like the United man, the Chelsea defender has a contract expiring at the end of the season, but Felix Diaz feels the players are in different situations.
He believes that Chelsea ‘insist’ on a renewal, but Rudiger is now ‘determined’ to try his luck elsewhere. Of course, it’s stated Los Blancos are in the picture, and would be looking at a deal similar to that which secured them David Alaba.
This all lines up a battle between Chelsea and Real Madrid for the German defender, one which could get interesting in the coming months.
