Chelsea’s attempts to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus, and the difficulty of the chase, have led to them being linked with other fullbacks.

There’s not a great number of options out on the market right now, and it could be the case that unless Antonio Conte gets Sandro he’s not interested in recruiting for the position, but rumours have run away with the story.

Monday’s edition of Marca claims Chelsea and Juventus have asked Real Madrid about Danilo’s situation. Chelsea’s interest would be as an alternative to Sandro, with the Madrid play able to operate at both left and right fullback, and Juventus would be looking for added strength just in case Sandro leaves.

Both clubs have been keen to know Real Madrid’s intentions regarding Sandro and have been left with a distinct ‘maybe’.

Danilo isn’t first choice for Real Madrid and needs games if he’s to force his way into Brazil’s World Cup reckoning. Therefore, if a club pleases both the player and Madrid, a deal is possible.

Madrid would be looking at around €30m for a transfer this summer.

Danilo is 25 years of age, traditionally a right back, but can play on the left too. The Brazilian’s contract with Real Madrid lasts until June 2021.
