Chelsea have made an approach for the signing of Philippe Coutinho, according to reports from the Brazilian media today.
Outlet Lance says the Blues have contacted Barcelona and his agents in order to know about the possibility of a loan deal for the next season.
Chelsea’s plan would be to get the midfielder on a temporary spell with the option of making the transfer permanent later.
Lance says Barça are more interested in selling him permanently, as they want to sort out his situation ‘as quick as possible’. Still, they’ve come to the conclusion that a loan with an option to buy may be the best solution, since no one wants to pay €90m for him now.
The report claims that Coutinho is very comfortable at Bayern Munich, where he’s having a loan spell until the end of the season. But the German side already said they’re not using their buying option, and could even try to extend the loan, even though Barcelona are clearly not interested in it.
The Camp Nou side believe this is the time to find a good deal with a Premier League club. Lance recalls that Tottenham tried to sign Coutinho last summer, and points out that Inter Milan have been interested as well, as a swap with Lautaro Martinez could end up being interesting for both them and Barça.
It was reported today in Spain that a loan deal could be the way forward, which sounds like good news for any Chelsea interest.
