Chelsea are one of the ‘main candidates’ to sign Real Madrid owned Sergio Reguilón, according to AS.
The left-back is on loan at Sevilla and his impressive displays for Julen Lopetegui’s side haven’t gone unnoticed.
Sevilla’s desire is to retain the 23-year-old beyond this season, but that’s difficult because of the competition from England and Los Blancos’ conditions for a transfer.
It’s claimed Zinedine Zidane’s side are looking for around €25m for the defender, and they also want a buyback clause.
Therefore, the Premier League is ‘now the best placed’ destination for the Spaniard.
Apart from Frank Lampard’s side, Arsenal and Napoli are also interested in the fullback. However, Chelsea have an ‘advantage’ over other suitors because they can offer Champions League football.
Reguilón’s priority is to play in Europe’s elite club competition.
Chelsea have also looked at Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, but the Foxes will ask for more than €50m for the England international. Reguilón, on the other hand, would cost half of that.
AS explain the two London teams (Chelsea and Arsenal) are ‘best positioned’ to sign the Real Madrid owned player.
It’s unlikely they’d be keen on a buyback clause, though.
