Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland remains the ‘number one candidate’ for Chelsea this summer, but they do not have an agreement in place over a contract.
That’s according to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, who insists the Blues still have work to do to sign the Norwegian star.
Haaland is expected to be one of the major names on the transfer market this summer, having continued to impress for Dortmund.
All of the big clubs in Europe are keen on his signature, including Champions League winners Chelsea, who are keen to add an elite level striker to their squad.
Recent reports have claimed they have stolen a march on the competition for his signature and had already agreed on a preliminary contract with the striker.
Falk is having none of that, though, insisting it is false that such an agreement has been reached ahead of a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
He says that while it remains true that Haaland is the ‘number one candidate’ for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich, there is no deal in place on a contract.
The Blues then still have to convince Dortmund to sell, with the poker around Haaland likely to rumble on for a number of weeks and months.
