Today there’s big optimism from the Catalan media that Osmane Dembélé will end up signing a new contract with FC Barcelona.

Despite the many rumours about a free exit at the end of the season, where Chelsea were named as one of the contenders for his signing, his stay at the Camp Nou is now said to be the most likely scenario.

Two major local outlets report the development in the talks for a renewal today. One of them is Sport, who claim that Barcelona have been pushing hard and now wait for the player’s positive response.

It’s said the club had his stay as a ‘mission impossible’, as they even had information his entourage had been in touch with other sides such as Chelsea, who offered a ‘hefty transfer bonus’ in case he signs as a free agent.

However, Barça have put a good three-year offer on the table which is now expected to convince his agents.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo is another one with a similar report. They bring a story highlighting the ‘optimism’ from the club about Dembélé’s renewal, as ‘daily steps’ are being made so the player can accept their proposal.

Chelsea are once again named as one of the clubs who made an offer ‘guaranteeing him more money and a bigger role’, which are seen as ‘heavy arguments’ to convince him to move.

Nevertheless, Dembélé is said to be happy at Barcelona. Due to his injuries, it’s said he feels like he has a debt with the club who invested big money on his signing and didn’t have the expected outcome.

With such optimism from the Catalan media, it almost sounds like the player is being pressed to sign the new deal.
