Chelsea are ‘in the front row’ for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie should he fail to sign a new deal with the Italian giants.
That’s according to Sportmediaset’s Claudio Raimondi, relayed by Calciomercato.it, who says the Blues contract offer is making things difficult.
Kessie’s contract with Milan expires next summer, and so far, there has been no sign of him extending his deal at the club.
They are naturally keen to keep the midfielder given his role in the squad and the fact they already lost key players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma to free transfers this summer.
Losing the Ivorian would be a bitter blow, but there are sharks in the water, with several Premier League teams, including Chelsea, all having been named as potential suitors.
Kessie being on a free means they can offer big wages to tempt him away from Milan, and Raimondi says that is the case at this moment in time.
According to his information, Chelsea are offering a contract worth €7-8m euros, excluding bonuses, for the midfielder to make the move. That total far trumps Milan’s current offer, which is €7m plus bonuses.
That ‘could make the difference’ in the long run and lead the midfielder to leaving, with his future in the balance.
