Chelsea have placed their first summer offer for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, according to claims from Spain.
ABC de Sevilla claim they’ve been been able to ‘confirm’ the news from Relevo that the Blues finally placed a bid to land the 23-year-old.
This offer reportedly stands at €55m, with bonuses included. The amount, however, wasn’t enough to convince Sevilla, who continue to consider that Kounde is worth more than that.
Even though ABC de Sevilla make it clear the Nervion side are playing hard ball, they still talk of the transfer as a real possibility for the current transfer window. It’s pointed out that with Chelsea negotiating for the defender, it isn’t guaranteed that he’ll travel with the Spanish squad for the second part of their pre-season, as he could ‘pack his bags’ and travel to West London soon.
It’s claimed Sevilla now expect the Blues to raise the offer, matching the price of €60-65m they’ve been demanding for the player.
The outlet talks about the bid as the ‘awaited offer’, as Chelsea had been in contacts for Kounde for a long time, and seem to only have made their real attempt now.
