Chelsea ‘fervently want to sign’ Ousmane Dembele this summer, should he leave Barcelona as expected.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Blues remain in the picture for the Frenchman, who is yet to determine his future.
Dembele’s contract with Barcelona expires this summer, and it appeared the club had decided to give up on him earlier this year, only for the player to work his way back into Xavi’s plans and hint he’d be open to a new deal.
That’s yet to happen, and it appears he’s closer to leaving than staying at this point, with plenty of interest in his services.
Chelsea have always been in the picture thanks to Thomas Tuchel, who worked with the player at Borussia Dortmund and would happy to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge.
Foot Mercato insist they remain keen on the idea of a move today, stating that the ‘story is far from over’ in terms of the Frenchman’s future.
They cover the Blues interest as part of a piece on PSG, who they insist could still move for the forward despite reports to the contrary.
According to their information, Dembele’s entourage are still in contact with PSG and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, with a meeting even taking place last week.
Indeed, their interest is coming solely from their president, who will override new director of football, Luis Campos, to make the move happen.
They’re not the only ones interested as the likes of Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on the situation.
There is also the possibility he could remain at Barcelona, meaning, as has been the case for a while, Dembele’s future is completely in the air.
