Earlier today, we covered a quick story emerging in France claiming that Hakim Ziyech’s move from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain had fallen through.
It was briefly said that the French league hadn’t approved it, but there were no reasons given, until L’Equipe arrived with more details a few minutes later.
The story from Paris Saint-Germain’s end, as this is where the newspaper will have got their story from, is that Chelsea are the ones at fault.
It’s first stated that when the documents were meant to be exchanged, the first one received from the Blues by the Ligue 1 side was ‘erroneous’.
What the mistake was isn’t said, but that was quickly rectified, and the contract was sent back to France a first time, only this time ‘without the required signature’.
Paris Saint-Germain made Chelsea aware of this, and the Blues hastily sent a new copy over, but that one was also ‘without a signature’.
The Ligue 1 side then had to wait for a third document to be sent, and then wait for it to be approved, but by that point, it was ‘too late’.
As for Chelsea’s excuse in all this, they claim that this ‘series of errors’ was because of a ‘service too occupied’ with the attempts to get the Enzo Fernández deal over the line, which they finally managed to do.
