N’Golo Kante last played a game of football in August 2022, one of only two appearances he’s made for Chelsea this season.
Suffering a hamstring injury, he wanted to go down the conservative treatment route, with the hope of making it to the Qatar World Cup with France.
That understandable yet hopeful approach didn’t work and Kante had to undergo surgery in October. He’s been out of action since then but having recently returned to training there’s an expectation he could return to the pitch soon.
Monday’s edition of L’Equipe takes a look at the situation of the Frenchman, and there’s a couple of interesting snippets from the French newspaper.
They explain Chelsea have never put big pressure on Kante to return quickly, however, the club have ‘expressed some reservations’, in private, about the midfielder’s ‘process of recovery’.
L’Equipe say Kante has been ‘reluctant to drug treatment’, preferring to take his time without such medical intervention.
Didier Deschamps will in a week name his squad for France’s friendlies later this month, and there’s doubt at L’Equipe over whether the Chelsea player will be ready.
