Last week when covering Le Parisien reports on Edinson Cavani, we pointed out Manchester United and Chelsea seemed to be taking it in turns to be included in claims on the striker’s future.

That report named the Old Trafford club, but not the Blues, and today’s L’Equipe has it the opposite way.

Once again it’s made very clear Atletico Madrid are way in front in the chase for the Uruguayan. That’s thought to be where he wants to go, and after a very disappointing week for Diego Simeone’s side, there’s now a greater urgency to get a deal done.

Atletico are ‘on the verge’ of presenting an offer worth around €15-20m, to try and get a transfer agreed as soon as possible.

There’s thought to be confidence a deal can be done.

As for Chelsea, Frank Lampard’s club have ‘expressed an interest’, but Cavani wants Atletico and has already agreed on rough terms with them.

Today’s Le Parisien doesn’t mention either English club, and carries claims from Spain that the PSG player has already had a medical with the rojiblancos.

This one may be solved quickly, with the moment of truth coming, and that can finally put an end to Chelsea and Manchester United claims.
