With Chelsea failing to make a couple of extra signings at the end of the summer window, it seems the Blues could be back for those players in January.
That’s something reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, who talk about the targets Thomas Tuchel’s side still have on their books.
One of them is said to be Ajax star Edson Alvarez, for whom Chelsea offered €50m in the final days of the transfer window.
It’s said the Blues have a new midfielder as a ‘priority’, and claimed they’ll place the same bid for the Mexican player in January. That’s because the Eredivisie giants initially turned down that offer due to the little time they’d have to find a replacement, so the situation could be different in January.
In case of a new rejection, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and PSV’s Ibrahim Sangaré are said to be alternatives.
Fichajes claims Chelsea also tried to sign ‘Russian jewel’ Arsen Zakharyan. Despite their wish of triggering his €15m release clause, the ‘economic sanctions’ due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine stopped the move from happening. It’s said the Blues now ‘seek a solution’ to land him in the winter market.
