Mario Pasalic to Atalanta isn’t dead, everyone, don’t worry.
The Croatian midfielder was touted to be very close to a move back to Italy, where he already spent some time in Serie A with AC Milan, but then it all went very quiet.
There’s a reason for that, and that’s the fact Maurizio Sarri decided to take the 23-year-old with him to Australia on their preseason tour, as they prepared for a game against Perth Glory on July 23rd.
Seeing as it’s a bit more difficult for a player to sign a contract, pass a medical and hold a shirt up when he’s on the other side of the world, it seems Pasalic will have to wait until he returns to Europe to complete his move.
This is what both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera’s Bergamo edition are reporting on Friday, with neither particularly worried about the deal falling through anytime soon.
The Chelsea midfielder will be heading to Atalanta despite previously giving his word to Fiorentina, but with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side offering more, Roman Abramovich allegedly stepped in and didn’t give his player much of a choice but to choose the better option for the club.
The Blues return from Australia just under a week from now, as they have to face Inter in Nice on July 28th.
