With Chelsea expected to lose Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger at the end of their contracts this summer, it’s no secret they’ll be in need of high-profile replacements.

One of the defenders who has been pointed out as a target is Villarreal’s Pau Torres, who featured in the Champions League semifinal against Liverpool this week.

It’s recently been claimed that the Blues are ‘willing to offer’ €60m to sign the Spaniard this summer, since this is the price for his release clause.

Now as Villarreal delegate advisor Fernando Roig Negueroles had a word with the local media about the defender, he confirmed that only a big effort would take him from the La Liga side.

Speaking to El Larguero, the official claimed that Torres is only leaving “if an exceptional offer arrives for both him and the club”.

Even though Chelsea are apparently one of the most recent contenders for Torres’ signing this summer, the Blues must be aware of the competition for the defender as well.

Covering the quotes, Cadena Ser names the Stamford Bridge side as one of the clubs who want him, but also add the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United in the race.
