Despite agreeing to sign Malo Gusto in January and send him back to Lyon for the rest of the season, Chelsea have actually had a lot of time with the Frenchman since the transfer window.

That’s because the player has been injured, but instead of recuperating in France, he was brought back by the Blues so they could keep an eye on his recovery.

That hasn’t really thrilled the Ligue 1 side, who have already made it clear they don’t really know when they will get their player back, and this continues to this day, as explained by Foot Mercato.

The French outlet have an article on the situation, and clarify a few details, such as the fact he isn’t in Dubai, but going back and forth between London and Villefontaine, where he is from.

The player is ‘recovering from his injury and already working to be 100% operational’ for the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Not only that, but he is also making the most of being around Chelsea players, as he ‘hangs out in the locker room to create affinities with his future teammates’.

That being said, the player hasn’t forgotten Lyon, and ‘doesn’t consider for a second leaving without having played a few matches before the end of the season’.

The question, however, will be whether he will be affected both physically and mentally when he does.

With the international break now upon us, he has a couple of weeks to recover as best he can, but, as Foot Mercato add, ‘it’s always complicated to keep a player who already has his mind elsewhere’.

That’s why there are already some ‘clearly questioning’ the idea of loaning him back to Lyon in the first place, which hasn’t worked out for Lyon at all to date.
