On April 29th, La Razón reported Chelsea retain an interest in signing Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza this summer.
The Blues are joined by Napoli in chasing the 25-year-old, according to CalcioNapoli24.
It’s claimed the Serie A side have a ‘concrete interest’ in the left-back, and their sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, has been following him for more than a year.
Unai Emery has the Spaniard, Pervis Estupiñán and Alberto Moreno as the three left-backs at Estadio de la Cerámica. The Yellow Submarine will look to part ways with one of them in the summer window.
Pedraza’s current deal runs down in 2025 and it includes a €35m release clause, and his sale could help the Europa League winners make an important capital gain.
An offer ‘could come’ from a top English club, and ‘in particular from Chelsea’ as the Champions League winners are ‘currently on pole position’ for the player’s signature.
Pedraza is an important player for both the former Arsenal manager and the La Liga side, and he would like to stay at Villarreal, where he feels important.
With Thomas Tuchel’s side in ‘pole position’, time should tell whether or not Chelsea can convince Pedraza and Villarreal for a summer transfer.
