With just one week left in Ousmane Dembele’s contract with Barcelona, the saga about his future is still on, as he’s still to decide whether to sign a new deal or walk from the Camp Nou for free, with Chelsea previously reported as being interested.
Catalan Sport today writes that the player hasn’t even responded to Barça’s latest attempt for a renewal, which was submitted a week ago, as he considers other options he has on the table.
Those alternatives are said to be Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain, whose bids are labelled as ‘important’.
Sport claims both clubs have ‘cooled their interest’, and when it comes to the Blues, there’s a special reason why they are not so excited with the possibility anymore.
It’s said Chelsea were ‘surprised by the footballer’s demands’, as well as doubtful regarding his injury issues, which is why they turned their attention to Raheem Sterling instead.
The saga goes on, with Barcelona not withdrawing the offer, and Dembele waiting until the very last day to decide whether to stay or leave the Catalan side.
Regarding Chelsea’s talks, the Blues also didn’t like the player demanding to be a starter in the team, so that’s another factor that would need to be reviewed in case he opts for a move to London.
