At the weekend, we covered claims from Germany that Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku has a verbal agreement in place with Bayern Munich. They also stated the Bundesliga side can’t go ahead with the deal until Mathys Tel leaves the club.

The Premier League side could open their door for Tel in the winter market, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a short update on Chelsea’s interest in the 19-year-old.

Tel has seen his game time restricted this season and has clocked in 396 minutes from 13 games, which includes only two starts.

Chelsea would like to offer him an escape route as they want to him in this window. The journalist claims the Blues ‘continue to fight’ to sign the France U21 international.

He adds that Nkunku’s agents are still at work to try and take him to the Bavarian club. A swap deal may be considered by the two clubs.

Online, Bild say the former RB Leipzig man can only arrive at Bayern if one of their players were to leave. They say Tel is the ‘first candidate’ on the exit ramp, but he isn’t keen on changing clubs despite his limited role.

The report claims the youngster wants to fight for his place under Vincent Kompany.
