Chelsea have been credited with an interest in three Bundesliga youngsters by German magazine SportBild.

In their edition this week SportBild have a feature on seven young Bundesliga players who are much wanted in the transfer market. As well as being talented, the players have managed to get that talent noticed, and three of them have caught the eye of Chelsea.

The three lucky footballers are 21 year old Julian Weigl, a midfielder with Borussia Dortmund, 21 year old Mahmoud Dahoud, a midfielder with Borussia Monchengladbach, and Bayer Leverkusen’s 20 year old Julian Brandt.

Antonio Conte and Chelsea would face competition from other Premier League clubs to sign the highly rated players, and it would be assumed January moves are quite unlikely.

This wouldn’t be the sort of recruitment which sees Chelsea buy a player and send him on loan to Vitesse or elsewhere, the three mentioned are above that level. What could be a possibility, should Chelsea genuinely be interested, is a deal which sees them sign one and him remain at his club for another half season or so.

That would help Chelsea beat competition but not stunt the player’s development by introducing him to a life on the Stamford Bridge bench.
