Among the more promising defenders currently in Ligue 1, Mohamed Simakan has attracted a lot of attention.
A number of clubs have been linked with the Strasbourg youngster, with Milan coming close to signing him late on in the last transfer window.
That fell through, however, leaving him with the French club for the first half of the campaign, where he has started every league game, and now Chelsea are interested.
The January transfer window offers him another opportunity to get a big move somewhere, and it appears the Blues could be an option for him.
That is, at least, what Le10 Sport are suggesting on Thursday, claiming Frank Lampard’s side have ‘contacted’ Strasbourg to let them know of their interest and to ‘find out about the conditions of a potential transfer’.
As things stand, no offer has been made, but the Ligue 1 club seem to have it in their mind that any offer for Simakan would need to be ‘above €15m’.
That’s very affordable for a club of Chelsea’s stature, and we’ll have to wait and see if more comes from this.
