For over a month, elements of the Spanish sport media have been covering a potential summer move for Saul Niguez.

The story has generally been that the midfielder feels ready for a new challenge and is prepared to push for a move after a difficult couple of seasons under Diego Simeone.

The Spanish reports started off by linking Manchester United and Chelsea, although it quickly became clear that was more out of hope than expectation.

Marca and others went on to explain that Atletico Madrid would have to set their sights lower regarding an asking price, and Saul’s agents would have to work hard to find top clubs who hold serious interest.

This is why claims from England about Thomas Tuchel leading Chelsea interest have been grasped by Mundo Deportivo, and seen as something positive for Saul this summer.

It would be a big jump from there to Chelsea actually making a move, but if these claims of Tuchel interest are correct, then the Blues would stand a good chance of success in any pursuit.
