This week, we reported Chelsea’s possible interest in signing Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel.

The former Udinese striker has revived his career at Sampdoria, and has 8 goals and 5 assists to his name this season.

It was claimed Chelsea could consider signing him next summer, but he must perform consistently for the entire season to convince Antonio Conte.

Italian website Calciomercato have an update on the rumours linking Muriel with a move to Chelsea.

Calciomercato say Conte has noticed the revival of Muriel at Sampdoria, and that Chelsea have been closely monitoring the Colombian forward.

Calciomercato, however, also confirm Chelsea will monitor him an entire season, before making a €28m move in June, which is also his release clause.

As confirmed earlier, Napoli are also keen on Muriel, and Chelsea might have some competition to land the player.

Chelsea currently have Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi as their striking options, but may need another striker next season should they qualify for the Champions League.
