Chelsea are reportedly very close to signing Yacine Brahimi. The Blues would be winning the battle against Liverpool, Wolfsburg and AC Milan for the transfer of the Porto winger.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the deal could be done within a few days as there’s a level of urgency in the deal. The negotiations are said to be “in the last stages”.
Porto reportedly want at least €30m for Brahimi, who is primarily a left winger, which is half of his release clause. The club only own 50% of his economic rights, but as they need money to fit the financial fair play rules, €15m would be more than welcome.
Chelsea’s interest in Brahimi started when the Blues met Porto in the Champions League group stage last season. The winger was the Man of the Match in Portugal, and was later picked as Porto’s best player at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s board have reportedly been following him since then.
Yacine Brahimi scored 10 goals and gave 11 assists in 49 appearances this season. He signed for Porto from Granada in 2014 for €6.5m. The Portuguese press have repeatedly linked the player with English clubs, which makes any story about a little less concrete.
