Three days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport indicated Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is well placed to make a switch to Chelsea next summer.

On Thursday, Italian agent Paolo Palermo backed that up and stated the west London club have already joined the battle for the striker’s signature. The Italian media continue to push the Blues as his next destination.

Corriere della Sera, relayed by CalcioNapoli24, talk about the 25-year-old’s ‘possible future at Chelsea’.

Last month, the former Lille man signed a new deal until 2026 and it has a €120m clause. The newspaper questions whether his future will be England, where Mauricio Pochettino’s side are named as a contender.

It’s claimed Chelsea ‘would have no difficulty paying’ the fee in his clause.

The Nigeria international has confirmed his desire to leave the Serie A winners after this season. Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted he was aware of the star’s wish and backed him to make a switch to the Premier League.

“We already knew it last summer. The negotiation [for the renewal] wouldn’t have been so long otherwise. We already knew that he would go to Real Madrid, or Paris Saint Germain or in the Premier League,” he said, as quoted by Sport Mediaset.

Italian journalist Ciro Venerato states Chelsea may have to battle it out with Arsenal for Osimhen’s signature. He adds Napoli have identified Lille’s Jonathan David as a candidate to replace him.

“We are heading towards a tug-of-war between Chelsea and Arsenal over Osimhen. It’s an all-London challenge. Obviously, the club that pays the Nigerian’s release clause to the Neapolitan club will win,” Venerato told Rai, relayed by Area Napoli.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Chelsea is the ‘chosen club’ for Osimhen.
