Fanatik are now reporting Chelsea’s interest for Fenerbahçe’s Danish central defender Simon Kjaer following previous claims in the Turkish media. Chelsea could look to strengthen in defence in the new year, and Antonio Conte is said to believes Kjaer is one of the best options for the Premier League side.
Chelsea will be active in the next window according to Fantik, and the 26-year old Denmark captain could be one of those players they bring in. Chelsea have only conceded 2 goals in their last 11 games, but this will certainly won’t stop Conte looking for defensive arrivals with the futures of John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic up in the air.
Fenerbahçe could be tempted to sell Kjaer as the club needs to sell some players before they buy due to FFP rules. However, the Turkish giants are competing on 3 fronts and selling their star player in January might not be the best idea for Turkish giants.
The final decision regarding Kjaer’s future is likely to be with Dick Advocaat, but as yet there’s no genuine reports in Turkish media about what his answer will be. it’s a difficult one for Advocaat, as he’d like money for reinforcements, but would be loathe to see Kjaer leave the club.
Kjaer has built a formidable partnership at the heart of Fenerbahçe defence with former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel. His performances this season have caught the eye of several clubs.
Former Roma and Lille player Kjaer has played 67 games for Fenerbahçe, scoring 5 goals.
