Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka was looked at by Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
He left Celta Vigo to join the Serie A side in 2020 and struggled to impress initially. The midfielder had made a few mistakes, and this was because of his physicality, which he has now improved upon.
The 27-year-old’s development at the Naples club then saw Chelsea try to make an approach, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
It’s said the west London club came ‘close to catching’ the Slovakia international with a €25m offer in the last window, which would have been an excellent deal for the Blues if they had managed to secure his services.
Lobotka has made 11 starts in all competitions for the Italian club this season and he now seems ‘truly unstoppable’.
TMW state his entourage watched him in action against Ajax in Amsterdam last week and they found an agreement with Napoli for his extension.
The Slovak is set to sign a new deal until 2027 and will earn €3m net per year, excluding bonuses. This could make it difficult for Chelsea or another club to sign him in the coming windows.
