Serie A side Genoa are unlikely to keep Chelsea loanee Davide Zappacosta, according to reports from the Italian media today.
When we see claims like that, that’s normally because the club aren’t satisfied with the player’s spell there. But according to Il Secolo XIX, the problem is actually the opposite.
It’s said Zappacosta has been doing pretty well at Genoa, even recovering from the disappointing seasons at Chelsea and Roma. The issue here is that he’s now drawing the interest from big Italian clubs.
The report claims the fullback could return to his former side Atalanta, although there could be other options, as Serie A giants Inter Milan and AC Milan are both interested as well.
Il Secolo XIX says there’s nothing done for now, but it’s quite unlikely that Genoa could be the ones to get to an agreement with Chelsea. Even though the player seems fine in the city and would be happy to stay, there’s no confidence that they could win this race.
The original report doesn’t say how much the Blues are demanding for his transfer. Outlets such as Milan News 24, who cover the story, report the Stamford Bridge are ‘asking around €10m’.
