Malmö FF centre back Anel Ahmedhodzic has claimed he is happy to be linked with the likes of Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has been named as a target for the Blues, with Swedish newspaper Expressen claiming that Chelsea are ‘chasing’ the centre back.
It was claimed that they were willing to pay €8m for the defender, who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign and reportedly earned himself interest around Europe.
Chelsea are one of those keeping an eye on him, and Expressen reported they were ready to make their move and offer him a five-year deal.
So far there has been no official move, which would have to wait until the January transfer window anyway.
Until that happens, it will be a case of speculation, and the player has now been asked about it by Aftonbladet.
“If it affects me, it has affected me positively. I do not walk around thinking that ‘oh, they or they are hungry for me’” he said.
“I think it’s fun that such good clubs are interested, but my focus now is just to take home the gold. Daniel (Andersson, Malmö’s sports director) has to solve it.”
Asked directly about Chelsea’s interest, he replied: “I have told Mackan that he can take care of everything. I do not want to hear anything.”
‘Mackan’ is Ahmedhodzic’s agent Markus Rosenberg, a former Swedish international with personal experience of English transfers after moving to West Brom from Werder Bremen in 2012.
He spent two years with the Baggies before heading back to Sweden with Malmö before ending his career and becoming an agent.
When asked about the interest in his young star he followed the same line of the player, believing it is nothing but a good thing.
“At the moment, I can only comment that the interest is great for Anel. But everyone understands that,” he added.
