Chelsea have ‘already inquired’ about Borussia Monchengladbach winger Jonas Hofmann this summer, with other English clubs showing interest too.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say that talks about a transfer are ‘going on in the background’ at this moment in time.
Hofmann has been enjoying a superb campaign for Monchengladbach, with 11 assists and six goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances to his name.
That form has earned him attention, specifically from Chelsea, and it was claimed back in February that Thomas Tuchel had already made advances via a contact at the German club.
Hofmann later confirmed the contact with Chelsea, and SportBILD pick up on that today, stating the Blues have ‘already inquired’ about a move.
In an article covering the future of several Borussia stars, they say Hofmann is very much among the candidates to leave after his impressive campaign.
Indeed, according to them, talks about a transfer are ‘going on in the background’, although it’s not made clear whether that’s talks with Chelsea or just in general.
Either way, since Hofmann doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, which runs until 2023, his transfer fee is considered ‘negotiable’.
Their ‘prognosis’ is that if Gladbach were to receive an ‘interesting offer’, then the winger will leave the club this summer. It’s up to Chelsea, then, to make such an offer and make it happen.
