Chelsea have already reached an agreement on personal terms with Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, but need to convince the Foxes into a sale.
That’s according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who says the Blues have turned their attention to Fofana after the failed negotiations for Jules Koundé.
Chelsea believed they had wrapped up a deal for the Frenchman only for Barcelona to use the activation of one of their latest loan agreements to finance a deal with Sevilla.
The Sevilla defender now appears to be destined for the Camp Nou and that leaves Chelsea looking for other options to bolster their defence.
They’ve lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger this summer and have so far only managed to bring in Kalidou Koulibaly, meaning they are short at the back.
Reports have indicated they’ve now turned their attention to Leicester’s Fofana and Genuardi confirms as much.
According to his information, they ‘have an agreement’ with the Leicester star but now need to ‘convince’ Brendan Rodgers and co to part with him. A first offer has already been refused by Leicester.
Following Koulibaly’s arrival, Chelsea have not ruled out the possibility of recruiting two other central defenders this summer.
Fofana is now among their targets and personal terms are agreed upon, but Leicester are holding out for the time being.
#Mercato
