Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri are the two recognised left-backs at Chelsea and the duo have been linked with moves to Italy.
The Blues are planning to bring in a new player in that position and if Calciomercato are to be believed, Frank Lampard’s side are also looking at Atalanta’s Robin Gosens.
Lyon tabled a €25m bid for the 25-year-old in January, but the Serie A side turned it down and set a minimum asking price of around €35-40m.
Atalanta’s decision to reject the Ligue 1 side’s proposal should come as a warning to those clubs who conducted surveys for the player. This includes Juventus and ‘above all’ Chelsea and Inter Milan.
The Premier League side are expected to part ways with either one of Alonso and Emerson and Gosens could be viewed as their replacement.
It’s claimed that convincing Atalanta, who are waiting to see how this season will be concluded, to let the German leave will not be easy.
Gosens’ asking price is said to have dropped due to the Coronavirus outbreak impacting football finances. His minimum valuation is set at €30m.
Calciomercato states Gosens will be among the ‘hottest’ targets in the summer.
