Valencia are keen signing Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic in the January transfer window, reports Super Deporte.
The Spanish side have managed just three league wins this season, and are actively looking in the winter transfer window to make reinforcements.
Ivanovic hasn’t started in the last 11 league matches for Chelsea, with his last start coming against Arsenal in a 3-0 defeat.
The 32-year-old has six months left on his current deal, and is free to negotiate a contract with any interested clubs from January.
However, a departure in January very much depends on Chelsea, and Antonio Conte might want to keep him at the club until they sign a replacement. Super Deporte cite Ivanovic’s ‘character and spirit’ as a reason for Valencia wanting him, but that may also make Conte want to keep the player until the end of his contract.
Ivanovic is expected to receive a few offers in the winter window considering his current situation at Chelsea, and has also been linked with a move to Italy.
At the moment, Conte prefers Victor Moses ahead of Ivanovic, and the Serbian might find it very difficult to regain his place in the starting line-up in the near future.
