Even though the Brazilian media has long sounded certain that Philippe Coutinho would move from Aston Villa to Vasco da Gama this summer, it now seems there was a little turnaround in the situation.

It was many times reported that the player’s contract with the English club would be rescinded, and he’d arrive at the Rio de Janeiro side as a free signing.

However, as journalist Lucas Pedrosa now brings some information on the deal, he claims Coutinho is actually leaving Aston Villa on a new loan.

It’s said there was initially an agreement to rescind his contract, with Vasco da Gama even finding a personal deal with the player.

Still, all parties decided that a loan would be the ‘best option’. So now he’s set to sign for one year, with the Brazilian club having a priority option to keep him next summer.

According to Pedrosa, the official announcement should take place before Wednesday, and he would be available to play from July 10th, when the Brazilian transfer window opens.

Coutinho’s contract with Aston Villa will then continue to run until 2026.
