Late on Monday, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna stated Manchester United have come forward to sign Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch in the summer, and it was also said the 20-year-old wants to play under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
The midfielder left Ajax for the German champions last summer, but has struggled to have a prominent role at the Allianz Arena this season, which has resulted in reports linking him to the Red Devils, where his former manager is currently in charge.
Voetbal International interviewed the Netherlands international, who hasn’t ruled out the possibility of joining Manchester United and another club in the next window.
“Training and playing at the top level for a year is beautiful and instructive,” he said.
“Although playing, it is mainly training. That has to change next season, then I really want to play weekly again. I haven’t spoken to the club management yet, so just wait and see what happens. But it is clear that this role does not match my expectations.”
“In the beginning, of course, I had to get used to it here. A new environment. Everything goes so much faster, sometimes training sessions just felt like competitions. It’s the European top, you can’t miss a moment. But I feel that getting used to it has been behind me for a while now.”
The Dutchman has been restricted to three starts in all competitions, out of which one of them came in the league this season, and if his situation doesn’t improve, or isn’t promised that it will, he could look for a move away from Bayern.
Prior to joining the Bundesliga winners last summer, Manchester United made an attempt to sign Gravenberch.
This was revealed by the player himself to De Telegraaf, relayed by Ajax Showtime, last June.
If the latest claims are to be believed, Ten Hag’s side are expected to make another attempt to sign Gravenberch in the summer.
