So, at least according to Radio Marca, money is a big factor in the transfer of Sandro Ramirez this summer. That’s not down to his transfer fee, with interested clubs able to pay the player’s €6m Malaga buyout clause.
Marca and others in Spain are reporting Sandro is looking for a good financial offer on wages, and has turned down Sevilla’s first offer. Sandro is said to be waiting for ‘more powerful economic proposals’. More money, presenting an opportunity for Everton.
This is also said to have been the case when Sandro joined Malaga. As a free agent, with Barcelona letting his contract run out and then trying, and failing, to keep him two days later, Sandro was able to secure high wages and a low clause with Malaga.
ABC Sevilla report that Sandro already had a renewal offer from Malaga of €3m a season after tax, huge for the Spanish club, and it would be assumed Sevilla’s offer was higher.
Everton’s would likely have to be much higher to make it worth the risk for Sandro to move to the Premier League, especially when he feels he has an outside chance of making the Spain squad for World Cup 2018.
With the new financial power at Goodison Park, this is a great opportunity for Everton to flex their economic muscles, and present Sandro with an offer that’s seriously tempting. It would be a signal of intent, and Everton will surely be considering their next move after Ronald Koeman watched the player at the weekend.
Over the past week Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Stoke City, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Southampton, and of course Everton have been linked. Wednesday saw German magazine Sport Bild drag Borussia Dortmund into the equation, and the interest is only growing.
