Arsenal and Leicester City haven’t made contact over a potential deal for Watford star Yaser Asprilla’s in the summer window.
That’s according to Asprilla’s agent Jonathan Restrepo, and he revealed this to Caracol Radio’s El VBar Caracol.
The forward has been a regular for Watford this season, managing six goals and eight assists from 47 games, and his form has seen him linked to Arsenal and Leicester.
His agent was specifically asked about the recent reports of interest from Leicester, who have secured promotion back to the Premier League.
Responding to that, he said: “No one has contacted from Leicester. There is interest from other Premier clubs and other European countries.”
The representative was then asked about Arsenal’s rumoured interest, and he explained: “Arsenal have never asked me a question. These are things that the media is putting out.”
Despite dismissing the reports of Arsenal and Leicester interest, there’s still a possibility for Asprilla to leave Watford in the next window. The Colombia international has just over a year left on his current deal.
Asprilla’s agent has insisted that evaluations have to be made on his future in the coming weeks and months.
“Yaser, it’s no secret to anyone that there are many clubs in Europe interested, bringing forward possible offers that could attract attention and we are analysing and seeing what is best for the player and the club,” he added.
“We are looking, because the market has just opened and we are going to see what is best for the boy, a good project where he can continue to have continuity and now it will be focused on whether he will be called up to the national team or not, but he has a contract and we will continue to see what is best for him.”
It’s to be noted Caracol Radio say the representative’s name is Jonathan Restrepo, while mentioning him as Jonathan Herrera in another report.
