The Chilean version of AS features an interesting story on the summer scenario lived by Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, recently said to be targeted by West Ham United.
The outlet claims his situation is a ‘problem’, as despite being expected to leave his club this window, he’s actually more likely to stay at this stage.
Ben Brereton was becoming a free agent at the end of the last season, but ended up signing a contract extension with Blackburn, reportedly as a ‘gesture of gratitude’ to the club.
AS writes that at this moment, Brereton has ‘absolutely no concrete offer on the table’, despite the interest from clubs in recent months.
It’s claimed that many English sides asked about the player, but none of them made a formal offer, ‘not even West Ham’.
Meanwhile, the foreign sides who were interested in Brereton seem to have given up on the signing once they were told that Blackburn had been demanding €15m for the move.
That’s certainly a lot for many clubs, but probably not for West Ham, who might have given up for some other reason (Scamacca?), in case their interest was ever true.
