Blackburn Rovers and Watford are eyeing up moves for West Ham United’s Maxwel Cornet as he’s set to return from a loan spell at Southampton in January.
That’s according to 225 Foot, who say the two Championship sides are keen on the West Ham outcast.
They report that Cornet is set to cut short a loan spell at Southampton in January after barely featuring for the Saints so far this season.
He will head back to West Ham, his parent club, before then joining a new project elsewhere. And fortunately for him, he has two English clubs looking at him.
According to their information they are Blackburn and Watford, with the Championship duo currently analysing possible moves for him. Blackburn would be interested in a permanent move while Watford would consider a loan.
Negotiations are currently underway between the various parties to define the terms of the transfer, but Cornet is keen to move on. He wants to participate in next year’s African Cup of Nations and so favours a project where he can play regularly.
West Ham are open to letting him leave too, with the Ivorian having managed just 37 appearances and 961 minutes in total since joining from Burnley two years ago.
